Vienna adopts ambitious strategy for children and youth
Vienna's first children and youth strategy was adopted on 28 May 2020. The strategy aims to make Vienna the most child and youth-friendly city. Among other things, it will anchor a children's and youth budget of 1 million EUR for 2021 as well as a children's and youth parliament.

Bologna - U-area for all
Within U-Lab, the local Living Lab inaugurated in Bologna in 2017 thanks to the ROCK project, ‘U-Area for All’ started in March 2019. This co-design process will create and experiment with a service in the form of guided tours inclusive and accessible to both tourists and people who live in the area. The service considers accessibility as autonomy and empowerment over information about the use of public space.

Lisbon - Beato and Marvila Interpretive Centre
Through the ROCK project, the Lisbon municipality is working on the social transformation of a remote neighbourhood (Marvila/Beato) with a strong identity linked to its industrial and rural heritage. The mix between rural and industrial heritage created a complex set of cultural traditions and societal behaviours in Marvila and Beato. These traditions still resonate today.

Unleash innovative thinking to address long-term unemployment – city guidelines based on lessons learnt from local practices
Getting inspiration from Lille Metropole’s innovative practice - Job Factory (‘La Fabrique de l’emploi’) and building on their experiences in addressing long-term unemployment (LTU), practitioners from 14 cities have met on 23-25 May 2019 in Lille Metropole to share lesson learnt in the process of creating new and innovative actions at local level.

Munich’s conflict management office
Munich has developed a method of mediation through dialogue to ensure citizens feel safe and comfortable in public spaces. By advocating all user groups’ interests and concerns, the all-party conflict management (AKIM) team is transforming how people feel about city living, increasing self-responsibility among citizens and giving decision-makers insights into issues affecting peaceful coexistence.

Strasbourg’s Re-let my vacant housing scheme
Strasbourg has developed a novel scheme enabling vacant private housing to be reintroduced as social housing. Through support for owners of empty homes and a toolbox for rental management, the city is creating more affordable homes for poorer households while also promoting social diversity and sustainable development.
